1. cyclonic storm ‘Jawad’ 

## Saudi Arabia has given the cyclone its name ‘Jawad’. The meaning ‘Jawad’ is liberal or merciful.

## Cyclone Jawad, a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal that has intensified into a cyclonic storm, will make landfall along the coast of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh by Sunday afternoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned on Friday.

2. InFinity Forum 

## Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on December 3 inaugurate the ‘InFinity Forum’ on fintech, which among other things will discuss and come up with actionable insights into how technology can be leveraged by the fintech industry for inclusive growth.

## The event is being hosted by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) under the aegis of Government of India (GoI) in collaboration with GIFT City and Bloomberg on December 3 and 4, 2021, in virtual mode.

## Indonesia, South Africa and the UK are partner countries in the first edition of the forum, the IFSC Authority said in a statement.

## Modi will inaugurate the ‘InFinity Forum’ on December 3. Some of the key speakers in the event include Reliance Industries Chairman and MD Mukesh Ambani, SoftBank Chairman and CEO Masayoshi Son and Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani.

3. India joined the G20 ‘Troika’ with Indonesia and Italy 

## India has joined ‘G20 Troika’ and will work closely with Indonesia and Italy to ensure consistency and continuity of G20’s agenda. Apart from India, Troika consists of Indonesia and Italy.

## India will assume G20 Presidency in December 2022 from Indonesia and will convene the G20 Leaders’ Summit for the first time in 2023.

## Troika refers to the top grouping within G20 that consists of the current, previous, and incoming presidencies (Indonesia, Italy and India).

4. The 40th India International Trade Fair 

## India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2021 commenced on November 14 and will end on November 27.

## The theme of this years IIFT is ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat,’ the commerce ministry announced in early October.

## “Export potential key focus at 40th India International Trade Fair to be held from November 14-27.

## 14-day mega event at revamped Pragati Maidan to display undying spirit of businesses through the pandemic and efforts to build Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” Union Minister of Commerce and Industry .

5. Hornbill Festival 

The Hornbill Festival is a celebration held every year from 1 to 10 December, in Nagaland, Northeast India .It is also called the ‘Festival of Festivals’.

6. V Praveen Rao wins MS Swaminathan Award 

## Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor V Praveen Rao has won the 7th Dr MS Swaminathan Award for the period 2017-2019.

## Praveen Rao handled 13 research & 6 consultancy projects on micro-irrigation in India, Israel and South Africa.

## The MS Swaminathan award was constituted by Retired ICAR Employees Association (RICAREA) and Nuziveedu Seeds Limited (NSL). It carries a prize of ₹2 lakh and a citation.

7. Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay NIF Book Prize 2021.

A biography of Dadabhai Naoroji, one of the founders of the Indian National Congress, by Dinyar Patel was on Wednesday named winner of the Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay NIF Book Prize 2021.

8. International Day of Persons with Disabilities – 3 December 

## The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3.

## The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
