1. Violence erupts in Manipur after arrest of Meitei group leader
– Kanan Singh, a former head constable and a top leader of Arambai Tenggol, was arrested for his role in the 2023 Manipur violence, CBI says.
About Arambai Tenggol ?
– Arambai Tenggol is a militant group that emerged in the state of Manipur in northeastern India in the early 2020s.
– The group claims to represent the interests of the Meitei, which is the majority ethnic group in Manipur.
– The group is thought to have been created by cadres of Meitei insurgent groups with the support of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and Manipur’s titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba, who is also the state’s lone representative to the Rajya Sabha, India’s upper house of parliament.

– India, Mongolia hold joint military drill ‘Nomadic Elephant 2025‘ in Ulaanbaatar
– The exercise to began on May 31 and is scheduled to continue until June 13, 2025.
– The exercise aims to enhance interoperability and operational capabilities through exchanging best practices.
– The drills include various tactical training and simulations of UN peacekeeping operations.
– It is the 17th edition of the joint military exercise.

-It is a long-lasting liver condition caused by having too much fat in the liver.
– It is closely linked with being overweight as well as conditions such as type 2 diabetes and heart and circulatory disease.
– MASLD is one of the most common forms of chronic liver disease.
4. Axiom Mission 4

– The Axiom Mission 4 crew will launch aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft and travel to the International Space Station.
– Once docked, the private astronauts plan to spend up to 14 days aboard the orbiting laboratory, conducting a mission comprised of science, outreach, and commercial activities.
Crew Members :
1. Peggy Whitson, former NASA astronaut and director of human spaceflight at Axiom Space, will command the commercial mission
2. Indian Space Research Organization astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla will serve as pilot.
3. The two mission specialists are European Space Agency project astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski of Poland and Tibor Kapu of Hungary.
– SpaceX for Falcon 9’s launch of Axiom Space’s Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) to the International Space Station from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) is at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
5. Punjab-Haryana water-sharing dispute
– The two States have been in a long-standing dispute over the Ravi-Beas water since Haryana was carved out of Punjab in 1966.
– The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) regulates water from the Bhakra, Pong, and Ranjit Sagar dams for Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Himachal Pradesh.
– On April 23, its committee decided to release 8,500 cusecs—7,000 to Haryana, 1,000 to Delhi, and 500 to Rajasthan.
– Punjab opposed the move, arguing that Haryana had already exceeded its annual allocation and capped its flow at 4,000 cusecs.
– Punjab’s refusal has reignited long-standing tensions over riparian rights.
